The New Game for Product Companies

Three experts—Kirsten Allegri Williams, Cindy Bolt, and Ray Hein—explore how changing consumer behavior is affecting manufacturers and why they need to think differently to succeed in a digitized world.

The Propulsion 2023 session "The New Game for Product Companies" features a panel discussion with Kirsten Allegri Williams, Propel board member; Cindy Bolt, industry evangelist; and Ray Hein, Chief Strategy Officer at Propel. Led by Propel CMO Dario Ambrosini.

KEY INSIGHTS:

  • WILLIAMS: "What actually drives the innovation of new products and services comes from deep within the user experience. It requires collaboration across UX and design, but also product engineering, sales and marketing, all coming together on which data points have the highest propensity for the strongest growth."
  • BOLT: "One of the most important things you can do to drive customer experience is to understand the ecosystem, the relationship, the development of trust, and enforce the bidirectional engagement of that. It's no longer just about you and your company, it's about that ecosystem."
  • HEIN: "One of the things that we've been able to see after talking to hundreds of customers in the last eight to 10 years, we're continuing to see compressed innovation cycles. So things that took four or five years, took a year to now nine months. Compressed innovation is changing the way teams have to work together. It used to be very serial process of design, make, market, sell, service, and with compressed innovation, all those phases get stacked up on top of each other and they have to happen real time."
